VILLA BETANIA

Betania (Tbilisi), Georgië

In a beautifully situated rugged, mountainous location in Betania, Georgia, a Dutch couple wants to build a villa with a swimming pool and a detached guest house.

The villa consists of one building layer that folds over the terrain. The floor of the villa follows the level differences of the terrain, turns into a terrace, then becomes a swimming pool and finally is the roof of the villa. The volume encloses an intimate courtyard garden where the entrance is also located.

The way you look at the landscape is determined by the ‘closed’ concrete outer shell and the ‘open’ glass inner façade. The result of the design is a villa that uses its surroundings to enrich its spaciousness and emphasizes the beauty of the landscape.
