MOOIE NEL

Commercial building Haarlem, Netherlands

The contracting company Kepsbouw and the painting company Eggink Schilders have joined forces and jointly developed a company building on a plot in the Waarderpolder in Haarlem. In this building they will house and rent out a number of spaces to parties related to construction. Together with Chris Collaris a design was made and we elaborated the plans.

The building consists of a substructure with four sheds, entrance area and parking spaces. On top of that a superstructure with five offices and a large courtyard/patio. The substructure is composed of an in-situ poured concrete wall. This wall is 6 meters high and has a wood structure on the outside. The gates to the sheds are sturdy and made of steel, so they can take a beating. The superstructure consists of a steel structure that has a substantial overhang. The facade has closed wooden parts with frames in between that look out over the lake ‘Mooie Nel’. There are wooden slats in front of this facade, making the building stand out among all the ‘boxes’ in the area. The roof is covered with moss-sedum, topped with pv panels. There are also heat pumps that provide the building with heat in an energy-efficient and gas-free manner, keeping the indoor temperature pleasant and comfortable in any weather condition.
